History:

Crow Island is an imaginary Island in the Pacific Ocean and exists as an alternate reality.

It was once a territory of the United States of America and was subject to the laws of that country.  In the early 1900s, the asylum on Crow Island housed the most violent of prisoners from the United States.  The island served as a place to send and forget the most vile and corrupt members of society.   The island was further inhabited by citizens who worked at the prisoner asylum.  A workforce of 150 strong and their families called the island their home, building a modern, urban type of community on the island, creating a shipyard for imports and exports and building businesses that further employed the members of the island as the generations grew.

In 1998, a civil war broke out in the United States and a large riot occurred on Crow Island.  The prisoners were able to overcome the guards and overtake the island.  The prison guards and most of the civilian men on the island were murdered by the prisoners, their wives and daughters claimed, bearing new children fathered the escaped prisoners.  Life on the island became wild, untamed and uncivilized.

By the end of the short war, in 2000, the United States was divided into several small countries, and Crow Island was named an independent island.  The group of freed prisoners, now in complete control of the island, determined that Crow Island would never adopt a system of formal government and laws, but adopt a patriarchal, tribal living system in which the rule of law is determined by a tribal council on a case-by-case basis.  A leader was selected, and over the next several years the tribe broke into four factions within the same tribe, each faction representing different ideals that the freed prisoners held.

Currently, the entire tribe is led by Chief Crow and his bride, Raven, who was given to him as a gift from his father on his 20th birthday.  The 25-year-old Crow recently assumed leadership when his father died of natural causes.
